Mickelson struggles in the opening round

Augusta, Ga--A couple of rough holes led to the downfall of Phil Mickelson in the Masters opening round and now has work to do to make the cut.

Mickelson, who hasn't played a ton of golf early on, struggled around the greens and it showed. Usually spot on with his short game, a triple bogey on sev en and then on 15, he was forced to lay up and then a total uncharacteristic lefty mistake and ker plunk.

"I don't feel like my game was off" said Phil Mickelson "I really don't. I feel solid with my ball striking, I feel great with the putter. I hit all those chips solid, flush, but I misjudged. I was just off, I was just off today and it was very disappointing."

Lefty said he's got work to do to be sure he makes the cut and will go off in the morning wave in round two.
