April 9, 2014 AUGUSTA, GA-- Jimmy Walker is a masters rookie with some impressive credentials. This week in Augusta, he's shooting for the stars. In his down time off the course, he's actually shooting stars.
Walker has made the shots when it comes to the course with three wins this year. In his free-time, his shots focus around astro-photography. He's got a website, darkskywalker.com with shots of cosmos and nebula's.
"What got me into it was just buying a telescope for the backyard and not being able to see a ton of stuff. Then I started reading and learning on how you would get into attaching cameras and stuff to a telescope. Then I just, with my personality to want to be good at something, I just took it to a whole other level," Walker said.
For walker and his golf game, Augusta national is uncharted territory-- for the most part. Before this week, Walker's only played the course twice, but he likes the way it looks so far.
"I really like the way the golf course looks. You get to certain places and golf courses feel better to your eye, feel better to your game, and this place definitely, I feel like it kind of suits my style of play," Walker said.
Aside from the shot making and stargazing, Walker has another personal collection, t-shirts. Walker says has a shirt or memento from almost every tournament he's entered.
