AUGUSTA, Ga--Some golfers Monday took a bit of a detour to Lake Olmstead. Ever heard of golf skeeball? It's new to us and some pros too.

Rickie Fowler, Amateur Kelly Kraft, and LPGA's up and coming stars Lexi Thompson were taking a swing at an unusual form of the sport.

They were teeing off from the "the middle of the lake and hitting into a target it was definitely different," said LPGA Champion Lexi Thompson.

That target was a skeeball target, a more than 125 yard shot.

PGA Tour Star Rickie Fowler told News 12, "not where I wanted to end up, but I had a couple of good shots not as well as I'd hoped for."

Young gun Rickie Fowler didn't do too well compared to his colleagues amateur Kelly Kraft and LPGA's Lexi Thompson.

Thompson said, "it tested our skills that's for sure."

But, for Fowler, he's hoping he'll have better luck on the course. "Going to get prepared and hopefully off to a good start Thursday," said Fowler.

He's looking ahead to the week and giving fans something else to look forward to, you may remember the YouTube video "Oh, oh, oh" by Golf Boys. The music video made by several golfers driving home more than 3 millions hits.

Fowler said, "We're getting pretty good. I think our voices are really good and our dance moves are second to none so."

So, are we looking at a reunion?

"We're working on it.. Obviously, it's tough to get all of us four together, but hopefully we can piece something together," said Fowler.

But this week, it's piecing together a strategy to see a Sunday play, "strategy for Sunday coming in position in the last 9 holes," said Fowler.

Holes that won't be anything like the ones at Monday's golf skeeball event.

Fowler said, "I love being in Augusta. It's a fun little town and it hosts a little gem called Augusta National.'

For one of LPGA's gems, she's hoping to see it first-hand, "I'm just looking forward to being at the golf tournament and that atmosphere always see it on TV and it always looks so amazing so I'm looking forward to going out there and watching," Thompson.

She's hoping her favorite doesn't hit it in the sand, when Monday, well, that is kind of the point.

Lexi Thompson and Kelly Kraft tied in Monday's golf skeeball, Rickie Fowler didn't do so well.

Crews tell News 12, it took a week to put the skeeball target together. The creators thought 'we have a lake, we have golf, and we have a shore, what can we do with it?'
