AIKEN, S.C.---School may be out for Aiken County students, but they're still getting a lesson...on the golf course. Youngsters with First Tee of Aiken are learning from a pro at Houndslake Golf Club.

It's been less than a year since First Tee of Aiken got started, and already they're connecting kids with the Masters.

First Tee of Aiken member Daniel Blackwell says he's getting his drive just right, hoping one day to make it to the Masters. And with Australian pro golfer Michael Mosher in town to teach him, Daniel thinks he's on the right path.

"It's so cool to be able to have these opportunities as a child with pro golfers coming. It's great," Daniel said.

Daniel, along with other members of Aiken First Tee, got free lessons from the pro golfer. For some, it's a lifetime dream that's now come true.

"Since I was like five, I wanted to be a pro golfer," said Sierra Carr. "I had so much fun. It was exciting, and I want to do that again someday."

While learning new putting and driving techniques from the PGA golf pro, First Tee members say they feel a few steps closer to making their own holes in one.

"Hopefully they'll teach me how to be on the PGA," Daniel said. "That would be great."

"I think that's great," Mosher said. "There's nothing wrong with following your dreams and having ambition. I think that's great."

Even though the lessons were limited, both current and future golf pros say they look forward to seeing success on the course.

"Someday I hope to be in the Masters, because that would be awesome," Daniel said.

"I'll be there and cheer, watching them," said Mosher.

It's not too late to join or donate to First Tee of Aiken. In fact, if you're a military family in Aiken looking for something for your children to do, it's absolutely free.
