Woods to return to golf at the Masters

Today Tiger Woods announced he'll start his 2010 season at Augusta National and the Masters.

On Woods' website, he says, "When I finally got into a position to think about competitive golf again, it became apparent to me that the Masters would be the earliest I could play."

Woods will not play the Bay Hill Invitational, and for the first time in his career he will skip Arnold Palmer's tournament in Orlando.

We know he's been practicing recently. Earlier this month, Augusta golfer Charles Howell III spent about an hour with Tiger on the driving range. Howell said Woods looked as good as he ever has when hitting the ball.

However, Woods hasn't played a competitive round of golf since mid-November. He's been focused on rebuilding his marriage after his Thanksgiving Day SUV crash. That crash led to the revelation that Woods had been with various other women during the time he's been married to his wife Elin.

After Woods' statement, Augusta National Chairman Billy Payne said, "We support Tiger's decision to return to competitive golf beginning at this year's Masters Tournament. Additionally, we support and encourage his stated commitment to continue the significant work required to rebuild his personal and professional life."

Woods thanked Augusta National members and staff for their support in his statement.

It will have been a 144-day layoff for Woods. He missed 356 days in 2008-2009 recovering from knee surgery.

Do you think Tiger's return will be good for the 2010 Masters?

shame on all of you for judging. He without sin through the first golf club. Senior, Kim and Barry. God is faithful and just to forgive and all we have to do is ask. Who are you to stay in unforgiveness? God I think not,

I don't see anything wrong with Mr. Woods going back to the game of golf. What happened between him and whoever is his business. There is a lesson in all of this for everybody. Just because a person is excellent at doing something does not mean they are 'perfect' in other ways. We all are human and make mistakes. NOBODY is perfect. People need to stop putting celebrities and athletes on pedestals. You'll be disappointed every time you do.

Who cares I have enjoyed golf without him. It has been nice to watch golf on TV , to be able to see all the other golfers instead of the Tiger Woods show. I guess when he is playing I'll go back to watching NASCAR

I think everyone should be mad at Tiger. He is passing along a message to young men that you can do whatever in your marriage and nothing will ever happen. I think that he is a disgrace to our country for all the women he has been with. Who knows what diseases he may have brought home to his wife and maybe even to his children. With him being in the spot light all the time it is a shame that he did this to his family, friends, and fans. We all thought he was perfect, but as we all know, no one is perfect not even Tiger.

Tiger stay away! Your not a good influence on our Youth of today! We should not associate you with the Great game of Gulf and the truley great names of the true Masters Champions! Shame on the Masters for letting you return! Let's clean up our city starting now!
