AUGUSTA, Ga.---It takes a lot of work to get the city looking good for all the out of town guests.

The canal is a muddy mess and we've got road construction going on everywhere you look.

The world is watching and it took months of preparation to get the city of Augusta ready for the big show. Now we ask visitors, is Augusta making the grade?

"Oh at least a B," says Joe Moehl, a golf fan from St. Louis.

"A plus, A plus all the way! I mean really, it couldn't be any better," says Cathy Curtis, visiting from Peoria, Illinois.

"I would say probably a B," adds Dixie Sneddon, here with her husband from just outside Salt Lake City.

So a couple of B's and an A plus. Augusta seems to be looking good to visitors from all over the world. "It's great, I think it's a beautiful town," says Curtis.

"I love the city. I love the people. The people are very friendly and accommodating. I love the azaleas and the box wood trees," says Sneddon.

But what about the changes this year, like construction on I-20 and a canal that's been drained for improvements. Is anyone noticing those things?

"We don't do a whole lot of touristy things, we pretty much concentrate on the golf," says Moehl.

"I'd give that an A at least, that one street was a little crowded but the rest of it is beautiful. No problems at all. You've done a good job," applauds Curtis.

We found some visitors strolling along river walk, taking in the Augusta scenery. Everyone just pleased with Augusta, and happy spring has finally sprung. "I love it. I just love the feel. You just know you're in a different area, it's green and beautiful," says Sneddon.

Both first time visitors and returning out of towners, all giving Augusta two thumbs up.

"I'm just very impressed. I've been here before but I didn't realize it was as big as it is," adds Sneddon.

Everybody that has posted a comment is right. The people who live in Augusta should have good service, cleanliness, and decent public service all year round. Not just when the Masters is in town.I have traveled all over, and I can tell you that Augusta has marvelous potential, but some things have got to change.I don't like what is happening in some Augusta communities at all.Stores are closing, crime is getting bad, schools are not getting proper support, and nobody cares. All the money and attention is in one area.As far as I am concerned, I live in Augusta. Not South Augusta, not West Augusta, or whatever.I live in Augusta, and I want to see the very best for all of us.There are some parts of this town where the situation is sad.Take some of that Masters money and invest it in making all of Augusta something to be proud of.

I love this city, but we could use some improvements. Like for one thing cleaner, bigger downtown with alot more businesses and do something with alot of them closed shops

I used to live in Augusta, and I know that if these people traveled outside the mile radius of the Masters they would give Augusta an F-!!!!!!!!!!

I agree as well. This city is nothing but window dressing one week out of the whole year! Our money doesn't matter at all. I also hate the way we're being run. If your not a huge corporation or have a high income than you don't matter to anyone. It's really sad!

I totally agree with you on what you are saying. ONLY for this one week are we a beautiful augusta, ga. This one week is not the only week that should be this way. It should be like this at all times. It's almost fake to me. I hate the way that we are being ran. Let's put on a good show for these people from out of town, who cares about the actually residents who actually pay for things here? And also with this one week we do actually have we can't enjoy since everything is so busy from masters. can't even enjoy our own city at it's best

im not putting augusta down by any means, I have to live here. But what kills me is the fact that we live here all the time and we have to look at trash on the streets and not worrying about keeping it clean. We also have to deal with crappy service at restaurants etc etc. My husband and I went out to eat at a restaurant the other night and usually we get decent or bad service. The resaurant was very clean, the bathroom even smelled better than ive ever smelt it and the service couldnt have been better. All of the employees were running around like crazy to make sure everything went just right. Why cant we get that kind of cleanliness and service when the masters is not here. Are we not important. Does our MONEY not matter? Can someone answer me?
