AUGUSTA, Ga.---It takes a lot of work to get the city looking good for all the out of town guests.
The canal is a muddy mess and we've got road construction going on everywhere you look.
The world is watching and it took months of preparation to get the city of Augusta ready for the big show. Now we ask visitors, is Augusta making the grade?
"Oh at least a B," says Joe Moehl, a golf fan from St. Louis.
"A plus, A plus all the way! I mean really, it couldn't be any better," says Cathy Curtis, visiting from Peoria, Illinois.
"I would say probably a B," adds Dixie Sneddon, here with her husband from just outside Salt Lake City.
So a couple of B's and an A plus. Augusta seems to be looking good to visitors from all over the world. "It's great, I think it's a beautiful town," says Curtis.
"I love the city. I love the people. The people are very friendly and accommodating. I love the azaleas and the box wood trees," says Sneddon.
But what about the changes this year, like construction on I-20 and a canal that's been drained for improvements. Is anyone noticing those things?
"We don't do a whole lot of touristy things, we pretty much concentrate on the golf," says Moehl.
"I'd give that an A at least, that one street was a little crowded but the rest of it is beautiful. No problems at all. You've done a good job," applauds Curtis.
We found some visitors strolling along river walk, taking in the Augusta scenery. Everyone just pleased with Augusta, and happy spring has finally sprung. "I love it. I just love the feel. You just know you're in a different area, it's green and beautiful," says Sneddon.
Both first time visitors and returning out of towners, all giving Augusta two thumbs up.
"I'm just very impressed. I've been here before but I didn't realize it was as big as it is," adds Sneddon.
