AUGUSTA, Ga.---"I'm running a hotel," said Richard Hoyt. He is opening his home to friends and family this Masters Week 2008.
"They're coming Sunday, and their gonna leave Tuesday night. The other couples coming Tuesday night and they're leaving Saturday. When they leave I'm going to Florida," said Richard.
In the meantime, the city of Augusta is gearing up for the national stage. Clean-up crews are out in force, club cars are being brought in by the dozen, and local store managers are preparing for big business during Masters.
"Oh yeah, it's here. We're ready," said Lula Sweat.
Lula is manager at the Super K which is located right off I-20. She expects crowds as early as tomorrow. "Everybody got to be ready to go. Hello, how you doing? What can I get you today? Just give em that good feeling that they are welcome here," said Lula.
The store has a wall full of Tiger's [Tiger Woods] new Gatorade just in time for Masters. "Oh yeah, we stocked up with Gatorade, water, snacks, extra staff whatever you need...we got it," said Lula.
The store brought in newly hired employees for Masters. "We brought in extra staff to cover you so you will not have to wait in line. You can get to the Masters."
There are several signs across the city that Masters is coming. Lula laughs and says, "Welcome fans, welcome Tiger, hope you win this year."
