It was a long trip to Greenville for Williston-Elko last night, but it was well worth the ride.

The Blue Devils' 27-21 win over top seed, Christ Church, clinched the South Carolina Upper State Championship, setting up a rematch of last year's state championship against Scott's Branch.

The Blue Devils broke form last night. Their high powered offense cooled down, and Williston relied on causing and capitalizing on turnovers.

Head Coach Dwayne Garrick was just glad his squad found a way to get it done.

He says, "Dexter (Staley) played a big game, which I think is a given anytime he steps on the field. Next week we gotta find a way to get Kendric (Salley) more involved in the football game than he was tonight, but they did a great job on us defensively."

Garrick says the most important thing for his team's state championship preparation this week is just to get healthy.

Quarterback Gator Garrick wasn't even certain to play this week because he and some teammates were battling illness, but they should be ready for next week's title game, Friday in Columbia
