Westside ready for state playoffs in volleyball

Tuesday October 16, 2012

Augusta, Ga--State volleyball tournament set to crank it up this week in Georgia. Eight area schools are part of the fun including the lady Patriots of Westside.

Brian Hadden's team comes in as region champs having knocked off AR Johnson over the weekend. Patriots are a pretty young team but have gelled together at the right time. It's been a while since they've gotten by the first round of the state playoffs and the intensity level has picked up in the past week or so

"In the last week or so we've really seen that cranking up as you would say" said coach Brian Hadden "A lot more effort, being more focused in practice, being more focused in teh games"

"We work a little bit harder at practice now knowing that it's more on the line of our season being over and us actually having to work together." said senior Kendra Broadbent

Coach Hadden says also playing in class 2A has made a difference as well as playing some bigger programs during the regular season. Westside hosts Lamar County tomorrow at 5.
