Augusta, Ga--During his tenure as head coach at Westminster, coach Mark Tebbs has racked up over 350 wins and several trips to the state tournament. But the Cats have never captured the top prize. This year, it could change in the roll of underdog
It's off to the final four friday for the Wildcats as they'll take on Loganville Christian. No true star jumps off the page as they're a true blue collar group. They struggled down the stretch of the regular season but got hot and are now a win away from playing for a state title.
"I was one that was probably a little bit doubtful" said coach Mark Tebbs "I thought this is just not looking good. But I have to give credit to our kids. They really came together and they just peaked at the right time."
"We played a lot of good teams and we've taken our slumps and we've taken our high points at the right times so this point in teh season has been really good for us. We do have nothing to lose, we met our goals so now everything is icing on teh cake and we just have to keep working hard." said Drew Sladky
Westminster has cleared one hurdle, getting past the second round. They haven't done that since 2005 when they last reached the final four.
