Washington County's Gray thinking playoff return

Sunday, January 20, 2013

Sandersville, GA -- Our high school basketball contenders are starting to take shape, but one team with plenty of recent success just might get a championship type boost.

When Allisha Gray signed her letter of intent to North Carolina in November, she was just three months past a torn ACL. Now, she's talking about being active come playoff time.

Gray has been putting in work six days a week, and she's ahead of schedule. She's able to cut, dribble and shoot, and for those wondering if the Lady Hawks might have her for a third straight trip to state, she says it very well could happen.

She said, "Right about now, if I do get released to play I'll probably play because I'm going to need some game experience before I hit UNC because I don't want UNC to be the first time I step back on court before I play again. You know though, I gotta leave it all up to the doctors because they know best. If they say I'm not ready, I'm not ready."

Gray got some more good news a few days ago, getting a nomination for the McDonald's All-American game.

As for the Golden Hawks? They've looked great so far, even without their All-American. They rank second in Class AAA.
