USC Aiken's golf team finishes 10th

DULUTH, Ga. – The nationally seventh-ranked University of South Carolina Aiken men's golf team finished tied for 10th at the AutoTrader.com Collegiate Classic at the par-71, 6,679-yard Berkeley Hills Country Club.

USC Aiken was the only NCAA Division II team in the 16-team field.

The Pacers entered the final round in 13th place. The Pacers put together one of their best team rounds of the fall in Tuesday’s final round, posting a 290 in the third round to move up and tie Furman for 10th at 906 (304-312-290).

The team round of 290 was the third-best round of the fall for the Pacers. USC Aiken’s best team round of the fall was a 281 in the first round of the Kiawah Island Invitational.

All five Pacers finished in the top-65 individually at the AutoTrader.com Collegiate Classic with JP Solis leading the way. Solis (Morelia, Mexico/Lico Morelia) tied for 28th at 224 (76-76-72).

Kyle Godsman (Moray, Scotland/Lossiemouth) posted USC Aiken’s best individual round of the tournament on Tuesday, carding an even 71 to move up into a tie for 47th at 228 (79-78-71).

Reigning Peach Belt Conference Golfer of the Week Matt Atkins (Owensboro, Ky./Henderson State) ended his efforts in a tie for 54th at 230 (77-78-75).

Mark Dickson (Edinburgh, Scotland/Firrhill) concluded the tournament in a tie for 60th at 231 (72-81-78), while Andrew Ward (York, S.C./Clover HS) finished in a tie for 64th at 232 (80-80-72).

Georgia Southern claimed the team title at the AutoTrader.com Collegiate Classic. The Eagles obtained a total team score of 859 (283-286-290) to acquire top honors. Host Georgia State came in second at 866 (282-299-285).

South Carolina’s Dykes Harbin collected individual medalist honors with a three-round score of 210 (66-72-72).
