AUGUSTA, Ga. – University of South Carolina Aiken women’s basketball players Daniela Tarailo and Brittany Hill have been chosen to the 2012-13 Peach Belt Conference Women’s Basketball All-Conference Team.
Tarailo was named a First-Team selection, while Hill was tabbed to the Second-Team.
The announcement was made from the league office. The 2012-13 All-Conference team was selected by the league's head coaches. Coaches were not permitted to vote for their own players.
Tarailo (Crown Point, Ind./Crown Point HS) is currently first in the Peach Belt Conference and third nationally in 3-pointers made per game (3.31). She is also fourth in the PBC and 12th in the nation in 3-point field goal percentage (42.0 percent).
The senior guard is presently eighth in the PBC and first among all Pacers with 14.9 points per game. She is also averaging 4.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game.
Tarailo has scored in double figures 22 times this season. She has scored over 20 five times.
Tarailo has netted over 30 points twice, scoring a career-best 31 points in USC Aiken’s road league win over then No. 24 Augusta State on Saturday, Feb. 2.
Tarailo was chosen as the Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week on Feb. 4. She was also chosen to the 2013 Capital One Academic NCAA Division II Women's Basketball District Three First-Team and the Peach Belt Conference Women’s Basketball All-Academic Team.
Tarailo is currently in the top-10 in USC Aiken’s NCAA Division II women’s basketball history in points (1,077), 3-point field goals made (205), games played (116) and minutes played (2,757).
Hill (Mechanicsville, Va./Quinnipiac) is currently second in the Peach Belt Conference and sixth nationally with 5.8 assists per game. She is also third in the PBC and in the top-20 nationally with 3.2 steals per game.
The junior point guard is second in the Peach Belt Conference and in the top-20 nationally in assist/turnover ratio (2.0). She is also sixth in the PBC in minutes played per game (34.4). Hill is second in the PBC in free throw percentage at 86.4 percent.
On the 2012-13 season, Hill is also averaging 8.0 points and 2.8 rebounds per game.
Hill has dished out six or more assists in 14 games this season for USC Aiken. She has scored in double figures nine times.
In only her second year in the program, Hill is currently fifth all-time in USC Aiken history with 312 assists. Hill closed out USC Aiken’s road win over Georgia Southwestern on Jan. 3 with a program single-game record 14 assists.
Hill was selected to the 2012-13 Peach Belt Conference Women's Basketball All-Academic Team.
Defending tournament champion and current Peach Belt Conference East Division second-seeded USC Aiken women’s basketball will open the 2013 Peach Belt Conference Women’s Basketball Tournament by taking on West Division No. 3 and host institution Columbus State at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 7.
The 2013 Peach Belt Conference Women’s Basketball Tournament is being held for the second consecutive year at the Frank G. Lumpkin Center on the campus of Columbus State.
USC Aiken (20-6, 13-6 PBC) and Columbus State (16-10, 12-7 PBC) squared off against one another just once during the 2012-13 regular-season with the Pacers garnering a 70-55 win at the Lumpkin Center on Saturday, Jan. 5.
USC Aiken claimed its 20th victory of the year in its regular-season finale against UNC Pembroke on Saturday, March 2. The Pacers have now claimed 20 or more wins in six of the last seven seasons.
The Pacers are looking to become the first back-to-back Peach Belt Conference Tournament champions since Lander accomplished the feat in 2008 and 2009.
USC Aiken has played in three of the last four Peach Belt Conference Tournament championship games. The 2012 Peach Belt Conference Tournament Championship for the Pacers was the first in program history.
The winner of the East No. 2 USC Aiken-West No. 3 Columbus State quarterfinal moves on the semifinal round where they will face off against the winner of the West No. 1 Clayton State-East No. 4 Armstrong game at 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 9.
The 2013 Peach Belt Conference Women’s Basketball Tournament championship game will be contested at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 10.
