USC Aiken men win on the links

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – The No. 2 University of South Carolina Aiken men’s golf team earned a one-shot victory at the Wexford Plantation Tuesday afternoon against the Division I field.

Head coach Mike Carlisle’s team recorded a three-round tally of 888, besting Presbyterian College by a mere stroke.

Kyle Godsman was the top Pacer, taking the bronze with a three-round total of 217. His scores were 74-72-71.

Brandon Robinson-Thompson claimed a top-10 finish with his ninth-place performance. He posted scores of 71-75-77 for a 54-hole total of 223.

Joar Bjelkholm, Hayden Letien and Andrew Ward all tied for 22nd, helping the Pacers secure the top spot on the podium.

Bjelkholm shot an opening-round 75 and bested it with a 74 over the final 18 holes of the first day. He wrapped up the event with a 77 for a 226.

Letien improved over each round of the tournament. After opening with a score of 78, he registered scores of 75 and 73 for his 226.

Ward posted an opening-round 77, but cut his scores over the final 36 holes. He shot a 75 over the final 18 holes on Monday before finishing with a two-over par score Tuesday for the 226.
