USC Aiken men finish second on the golf links in first tournament

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken men’s golf team earned a second-place finish at the Kiawah Island Invitational, which wrapped up competition Tuesday afternoon.

The Pacers finished with a two-day total of 581, four-over par. USC Aiken took the silver, falling to North Alabama by a mere stroke for the tournament title.

Flagler rounded out the top three after shooting an eight-over par, 584. Mount Olive and Armstrong tied for fourth with a 13-over par, 589.

Brandon Robinson-Thompson notched the silver, tying with Mount Olive’s Sebastian Andersen. Both registered a two-day total of two-under par, 142. Conner Godsey of UNA won the individual title with a six-under par, 138.

Kyle Godsman posted a two-day tally of one-under par, 143, to tie for fourth. With the windy conditions, only nine student-athletes finished even or under par.

Joar Bjelkholm recorded a 21st-place effort with a four-over par, 148. Right behind him was Stephane Boudreau, who tied for 26th with a five-over par, 149.

Brian Amick rounded out the Pacers at the tournament with a nine-over par, 153, to take 47th.

USC Aiken returns to action Oct. 7-8 in Akron, Ohio when the team takes part of the Firestone Invitational.
