North Augusta, SC--Baseball's first year player draft gets underway this evening with the first couple of rounds. While we don't expect any locals to be taken Thursday, there should be a few Fridya. South Aiken's Taylor Widener one, another for sure, USC Aiken reliever Taylor Grover.
Here's a guy who made a huge jump from his junior to senior year with the Pacers. Got to give him all the credit in the world. Instead of playing summer ball, he read everything and watched every video possible on how to get better. He then implemented a work out plan and stuck to it like clockwork. It made all the difference in the world.
"Ever since I was working really, really hard, I've seen big jumps" said Taylor Grover "Yea, I went from 90-92 mph 94-97 mph, you know, that's just crazy, you just never think you're going to do that you know. But I'm telling you, the hard work, the dedication to keep doing it every day, all day. I didn't have a life in the summer, I just worked, worked, worked."
Grover was a third team All American this year and says he's a braves fan but really it doesn't matter who drafts him as he'll continue to work as hard as ever to make baseball his career.
