AUGUSTA, Ga. -- GRU Augusta Head Men’s Basketball Coach Dip Metress announced Wednesday afternoon the suspension of junior forward Devon Wright-Nelson for the first three games of the 2013-14 regular season.

Metress indicated the suspension was for Wright-Nelson’s failure to adhere to the standards of the program. Wright-Nelson will miss this weekend’s season-opening tournament as well as the Jags’ first road game of the year.

“We have certain expectations within our program that everyone associated with our program has to meet on a daily basis,” Metress said.

The Jags kick off their 2013-14 slate this weekend when they host the HCCU PBC-SAC Challenge in Christenberry Fieldhouse. On Saturday, Nov. 9, Lander takes on Anderson at 5:00 p.m., before the Jags make their season debut vs. Tusculum at 7 p.m. On Sunday, Nov. 10, Lander and Tusculum square off at 2:00 p.m., followed by GRU vs. Anderson at 4 p.m.

GRU hits the road to face Bowie State on Saturday, Nov. 16, tangling with the Bulldogs in a 4:00 p.m., non-conference matchup in Bowie, Md.
