Aiken, SC -- School's out for the summer, but the doors at South Aiken were open Tuesday morning. It was all for sports stand out MaKenzie Smith.
She spent all of high school excelling for the Thoroughbreds softball, basketball and soccer teams, but now she's ready to make the move to the next level.
Smith's about to head down the road a little bit to become a Lander Bearcat. It ended up being a perfect situation for her.
Lander was her first choice and a school she loved, and they were the only ones to give her an offer. Now, she's just excited to stay on the field.
"It's really exciting, definitely something I dreamed about," Smith said. "I'm just kind of in awe, but it's been awesome. I'm just very excited, kind of nervous, but I'm ready for the new journey and what waits for me."
Smith's signing brings an end to a great spring sports season at South Aiken. The boys tennis team won state, and the boys soccer and baseball teams came up just barely shy of that same goal.
