Softball great Jennie Finch to hold camp in North Augusta

Augusta, GA – The Augusta Sports Council (ASC) announces North Augusta Parks, Recreation and Leisure Services will present the Jennie Finch Softball Camp on October 26-27 at Riverview Park in North Augusta. The camp is open to third grade girls and above.

Finch, a former pitcher for the USA national softball team, helped lead Team USA to the gold medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece and a silver medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. She also pitched and played first base at the University of Arizona as well as for the Chicago Bandits. Time Magazine described her as the most famous softball player in history. Finch retired in 2010 to focus on her family and started work in 2011 as a color analyst for ESPN doing National Pro Fast pitch and college softball games.

The softball camp will feature Jennie Finch and her Olympic and professional softball teammates for two full days of personal instruction covering all aspects of softball. The camp will include a Q&A session for campers, coaches and parents, a Finch Windmill demonstration, hitting demo by professional coaches, pitching demo by Finch and prize drawings.

Advanced registration is required and participation is limited. The cost is $175 per camper, who will receive lunch both days, certificate of participation, camp T-shirt and a swag bag full of goodies including an autographed photo of Jennie. For those who sign up, there is a $25 cancellation fee before October 12 and no refunds after that day.

Camp will commence October 26 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and continue on October 27 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Campers will need to being their own glove and other equipment to participate.
