May 9, 2014 NEW YORK, NY-- When you're an NFL hopeful, there's never a bad time to get the call about your future in the draft. For Silver Bluff product and Boise State defensive end Demarcus Lawrence, his call was a little bit sweeter.
The Dallas Cowboys selected Lawrence with the 34th pick of the 2014 NFL Draft. Lawrence grew up a Cowboys fan. Now, he'll get the chance to don the blue star to open his NFL career.
Perhaps, just as bad as Lawrence wanted Dallas, the Cowboys wanted him back. Dallas traded their second and third round picks to Washington to move up and snag Lawrence with the second pick in the second round.
A junior college transfer to Boise State, Lawrence finished his junior season with 10.5 sacks and 72 tackles, ranking near the top in several Mountain West defensive categories.
