Augusta, Ga--It's been three years since there's been semi-pro basketball in the Augusta area and a team is on the horizon that will actually start next November.
The American Basketball Association, the ABA, have given an expansion team to the Georgia-Lina Hurricanes with the Elite Sports Group of Augusta as the owners
The last time we saw semi pro ball, back when the Augusta Groove took to the court. The Hurricanes will be one of nearly 100 teams in the ABA nationwide, which has long been an established league since the 60's. News 12 talked to one of the owners, Bryan Beaver, and he said they'll play around 36 games a year. They are still working on where they'll call home but will play teams currently located in Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina.
