Sylvania, GA -- Just about every high school sports team will fall on hard times at some point. No matter the rich history or tradition, it's going to happen, and the last few years that's been the case at Screven County.

And when that happens, something needs to change.

In steps Ron Duncan. The Gamecocks' new coach has changed up just about everything in Sylvania trying to turn around a team that's gone 5-15 in the last couple seasons.

Screven has struggled for most of the last decade since a state title in 2002, but with a new boss on the sidelines, change is in the air.

Duncan said, "It's been exciting. Any time you go in and try to rebuild a program there's a challenge there, and our coaches have worked extremely hard and our kids have worked very hard trying to rebuild the tradition here that Screven County has. It's been a very good experience so far."

It's a new region for the Gamecocks this year as well. A few more Augusta area schools dot the schedule, including Westside, Josey, Harlem and Laney.
