Augusta, Ga--A six run fifth inning led to Augusta's downfall as they lose to Savannah 10-2 in the playoff opener of the best of three series.
The Sand Gnats grabbed the early lead in the third on an RBI single by Maiki De La Cruz and then broke things open in the fifth. Martin Agosta couldn't find the strike zone and walked a couple that set the table. Then it was De La Cruz with an RBI signle making it 3-0. Stefan Sabol with the big blow a bases loaded double that made it 6-0 Savannah.
On the mound, Gabriel Ynoa was outstanding surrendering just two hits through the first six innings. The GreenJackets finally got on the board n the seventh with a Chuckie Jones infield single. They would add one more in the eight.
Savannah takes the early one game to none lead in the best of three series as the scene switches to Savannah for game two Friday night.
