RiverHawks visit kids at Children's Medical Center
We are so in tune to seeing the Augusta RiverHawks battling it out on the ice that we forget they are a lot like us. We also forget, they can serve as role models and even bring smiles to plenty of folks outside of the hockey rink. Today, one of those reminders.

We are so in tune to seeing the Augusta RiverHawks battling it out on the ice that we forget they are a lot like us. We also forget, they can serve as role models and even bring smiles to plenty of folks outside of the hockey rink. Today, one of those reminders.
About a half dozen of the RiverHawks paid a visit to the Children's Medical Center at GHSU. The Hawks made some rounds signing autographs, playing checkers or chess, and just letting the kids forget about things for a while. An experience like this brings smiles to those in need of something to smile about. For the players, a pretty humbling experience as well.
"Definitely puts things into perspective" said John Kearns "I mean, often times you think you're having a bad day, and you kind of need to take a step back and you see something like this, you realize how good you have it even though you may not think you do."
"It's cool to get back out and give things to the community and see the kids" said JD Gordon" You know they don't have much to do all day and I'm sure that it's fun for them to meet some of the guys. They probably don't know hockey players out here so it's cool to come down here."
RiverHawks usually do a bunch of appearances at schools throughout the season and to bring smiles to the kids faces at the hospital, certainly puts a lot into perspective.
