Augusta-GA--The fall-out from the end of the NHL lockout has reached the CSRA. The Augusta RiverHawks announced Tuesday that they have signed defenseman Joe Schiller. The team also announced that defenseman William Lacasse had been loaned to the Idaho Steelheads of the ECHL.

Schiller joins the RiverHawks after starting his season in the ECHL with the Las Vegas Wranglers. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound blue liner had an assist and was -3 in eight games. Prior to turning pro Schiller enjoyed a productive four-year collegiate career at Minnesota State-Mankato, picking up 31 points in 109 games.

Before heading to college, the 24 year old enjoyed a solid junior season with the USHL's Green Bay Gamblers. Prior to that the Detroit Lakes, MI native starred at Detroit Lakes High School.

Lacasse heads to Boise as the RiverHawks' top scorer amongst defensemen. In 26 games with Augusta he tallied six goals and nine assists for 15 points while sporting a -4 rating. It is the St. Pie, PQ native's rookie season, following a solid collegiate career split between Neumann College and SUNY-Buffalo State.

Schiller has joined the team and is expected to be in the lineup for Thursday night's road game, while Lacasse will join the Steelheads immediately.
