Edgefield, SC--Very few teams in the area can dominate an opposition like Strom Thurmond can. And they do it every year. While the offense gets most of the notoriety, it's the rebel defense that usually wins the ballgames. It's also where we find our Acadmey Sports and Outdoors player of the week.
All year long Kenyatta Dunbar has been the leader of the blue steel "d". On the season, he leads the team with 88 tackles and when there's a big play to be made, it's usually dunbar in the middle of it.
"The film study, and just preparing and then when the offense comes out I'm just seeing what they are doing and just reacting" said Kenyatta Dunbar
"We don't put a whole lot on him as far as calls and stuff." said Lee Sawyer "I mean Aaron (Cook) and some of those guys can do that but you can just see him develop game by game, getting a little bit more use to his keys and where he fits into the defense and things like that"
The Rebels have always been an attacking style defense and dunbar fits the mold to a tee. He's strong, has speed and reads the offense to perfection.
