Re'mon Nelson named first team all region for USC Aiken

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Peach Belt Conference Player of the Year and Peach Belt Conference Tournament Most Valuable Player Re’mon Nelson has been named to the 2013 Daktronics All-Southeast Region First-Team.

As a First-Team selection, Nelson will now be listed on the Daktronics All-American national ballot. The All-American team will be announced on Thursday, March 21, 2013.

Nelson (Columbus, Ohio/Canal Winchester HS) is currently eighth nationally and third in the Peach Belt Conference in assists per game (6.2). He is also sixth in the Peach Belt Conference in steals per game (1.8).

A 2011-12 All-Peach Belt Conference and All-Peach Belt Conference Tournament selection, Nelson was a 2012-13 Peach Belt Conference preseason All-Conference selection.

Nelson is currently averaging 13.7 points, 6.2 assists and 3.5 rebounds in 32.9 minutes per game. He is shooting 45.9 percent from the field and 43.2 percent from beyond the arc.

The senior guard is presently shooting 79.4 percent from the free throw line.

Nelson has 18 games this season where he has dished out six or more assists. He has scored in double figures 21 times.

Nelson has scored over 20 points six times this season. Nelson has collected three double-doubles (points/assists) this season.

Nelson became the all-time leader in Peach Belt Conference history in assists in USC Aiken’s Peach Belt Conference Tournament championship game victory. Nelson now has 497 assists in his four-year Pacer career.
