HUNTERSVILLE, NC - The Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) today announced Robby Moss of the Augusta RiverHawks is the Easton Player of the Week for December 3-9.
Moss went 2-0-1, posting a 0.81 goals against average, a .970 save percentage and one shutout as the RiverHawks picked up five of a possible six points, including their first home win of the season.
On Thursday at Fayetteville, Moss came on in relief of starter BJ O'Brien late in the second period with the RiverHawks down 4-1. But he stopped all 11 shots he faced as Augusta rallied for an improbable win with six third-period goals, downing the first-place FireAntz 7-4. Moss continued his hot goaltending back in Augusta the following night as he stopped all 28 shots in recording his first professional shutout, a 4-0 decision over the Mississippi Surge. On Saturday, Moss made 26 saves in a 2-1 overtime loss against the Surge.
A native of Chesterfield, Missouri, Moss played four years at St. Lawrence University (ECAC). Prior to that, Moss played two seasons with the North Iowa Outlaws of the North American Hockey League. He was named to the 2007-08 All-Central Division Team after going 28-7-4, with a 1.91 goals against average, a .941 save percentage and five shutouts.
