Harlem, Ga--To be a Harlem Bulldog, it may seem like a labor of love at times on the football field. Two wins last season for the crew. Though, they're still working hard.
And that effort is providing the optimism for the Bulldogs especially right out of the gate.
Harlem has the chance to come out swinging with some early wins. They open the season against Georgia Military. Unfortunately, the Bulldogs won't have a big time back from a year ago with them.
Dontel Frails transferred out of the area. Tailback Austin Burt returns to shoulder the load, and the quick start may be key for Harlem success.
"Most of the offense and most of the defense is seniors. We're just building off what we've learned the last couple of years through losing and hardships," tight end Tyler Sheppard said.
"You take those two wins (from last year). You remember how it felt when you did win and you want to get that feeling again, so we just keep working hard and doing the best we can do," head coach Jimmie Lewis said.
Lewis likes the make up of his 2013 team, adding they want to throw the ball a little more this year.
