Atlanta, Ga--Both the Paine men and women advanced into the second round of the SIAC basketball tournament with wins over LeMoyne-Owen Tuesday afternoon.
Mario Jordan scored 21 points to lead the Lions to a 75-73 win over the Magicians. Paine led by double figures most of the game and survived a late rally to win and advance. LeMoyne did close to within a single point in the closing moments, but Paine held on to advance into the next round.
In the women's game, Paine blitzed the Magicans 36-10 in the second half en route to a 59-45 win.
Ashley Watts tallied a game high 25 with most of them in the decisive second half.
They'll take on Kentucky State in the second round Thursday.
