Paine basketball picked 2nd in SIAC East, Lady Lions 5th

Atlanta, GA- SIAC Pre-season basketball predictions are in, and both the Lions and Lady Lions were chosen to finish in the top five of the East Division. The Lions were chosen to finish in second place, behind 2012 Men’s Basketball Champions Benedict College. The Lady Lions were selected to finish in fifth place.

Individually, Paine College Lady Lion Ariel Brown was selected to the Preseason All-Conference Women’s Basketball team by the SIAC women’s basketball coaches association. The junior guard from Savannah, GA made appearances in 26 games with 16 starts during the 2011-12 season. Brown averaged 21.8 minutes, eight points per game, 3.4 rebounds, recorded nine blocks, had 39 steals, and returns this season as the Lady Lions’ leading scorer. Ariel scored in double figures in seven games, with her season high, 17 points being in the 2011-12 SIAC tournament game against Miles College, February 28, 2012.

The Lions wrapped up the 2012 season with a 16-13 overall record and the Lady Lions finished with a 6-21 overall record.
