Augusta, GA--One of the first things Paine did when they hired Tim Duncan as Athletic Director is to see if football would be feasible at the school and would grow the school. Yes, and yes were the answers. After a year in the making, Paine will restart a program that's been dormant for 51 years.

On Saturday the Lions will take to the field as a club sport when they play Georgia Prep Academy. It's been a whirl wind month or so as the team didn't really put the pads on til about two weeks ago. Starting something new is an exciting time and coach greg ruffin says these kids can be legacy makers.

"The kids are fired up" said coach Greg Ruffin "They understand they have a chance to make history here. This is not a Saturday thing, this is something we're building day by day, week by week, month by month and year by year. They understand they have a chance to do what never has done and that's to win a championship in football here and they're fired up about it."

There are a number of local kids on the team that is actually over a hundred strong. They'll suit up about 85 on friday. Game time is 2 pm with Laney's Memorial Stadium playing host.
