Pacers golf ties for 2nd at Bobcat Invite

EATONTON, Ga. – The nationally third-ranked University of South Carolina Aiken golf team finished tied for second at the Bobcat Invitational at the 6,730-yard, par-70 Cuscowilla Golf Resort on Lake Oconee.

USC Aiken closed out the three-round tournament with a total team score of 860 (291-283-286) to tie for second with national No. 2 Nova Southeastern (281-285-294) and national No. 19 Armstrong Atlantic State (289-280-291).

Nationally seventh-ranked Lynn claimed top team honors at the Bobcat Invitational with a three-round team score of 854 (279-286-289).

Two Pacers finished in the top-10 individually with Matt Atkins (Owensboro, Ky./Henderson State) leading the way with his third top-5 finish of the 2012-13 season. The reigning Peach Belt Conference Golfer of the Week concluded the Bobcat Invitational in sole possession of third place individually with a three-round score of even 210 (73-66-71).

USC Aiken’s JP Solis (Morelia, Mexico/Lico Morelia) tied for eighth with a three-round score of 214 (70-73-71).

Armstrong’s Gus Wagoner acquired individual medalist honors in the tournament with a three-round score of 2-under 208 (69-66-73).

USC Aiken will next head to Greenwood, S.C. to defend its team crown at the Bearcat Golf Classic. The Pacers won Lander's home tournament at the par-72 Greenwood Country Club in 2012 with a three-round team tally of 8-under 856 (290-281-285).

The 2013 Bearcat Golf Classic will be held on Monday, March 25 and Tuesday, March 26.
