TUCSON, Ariz. – The University of South Carolina Aiken baseball team remained sixth in the fourth 2013 regular-season Collegiate Baseball Newspaper NCAA Division II Poll.

USC Aiken was ranked 10th in the preseason poll released on Dec. 21, 2012. The Pacers moved up five spots to fifth in the first regular-season national tally. The Pacers remained fifth in the second regular-season poll. Last week, the Pacers had dropped to sixth.

The Pacers have now been ranked in 21 straight national polls. The Pacers were ranked inside the top-30 in the final 16 national polls of the 2012 season.

USC Aiken is one of three Peach Belt Conference teams ranked in the latest national tally. Lander is just ahead of the Pacers in fifth, while UNC Pembroke is ranked 24th.

Delta State is No. 1 in the latest poll. Mount Olive is second, while Tampa is third. Cal State Chico is fourth.

USC Aiken ended its Peach Belt Conference three-game series with Francis Marion this past weekend by taking two out of the three games.

USC Aiken (10-2, 2-1 PBC) has now claimed all four of its three-game series this season (Lincoln Memorial, Carson-Newman, Shepherd and Francis Marion). The Pacers swept Lincoln Memorial and Shepherd.

The series win over Francis Marion allows 14th-year head coach Kenny Thomas to sit just three victories away from 1,000 in his career.

USC Aiken will next welcome league foe Flagler to Roberto Hernandez Stadium for a three-game series. The three-game league set will commence with a 6 p.m. game on Friday, March 1. The series will then close with a doubleheader on Saturday, March 2. The first game of the doubleheader is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.

The first game of the three-game series will be sponsored by Aiken Ophthalmology. Wayne’s Automotive will sponsor the doubleheader on Saturday, March 2.
