TUCSON, Ariz. – The University of South Carolina Aiken baseball team moved up to eighth in the seventh 2013 regular-season Collegiate Baseball Newspaper NCAA Division II Poll.
USC Aiken was ranked 10th in the preseason poll released on Dec. 21, 2012. The Pacers moved up five spots to fifth in the first regular-season national tally. The Pacers remained fifth in the second regular-season poll. The Pacers were ranked sixth in the third, fourth and fifth regular-season polls. USC Aiken was ranked 13th in the sixth regular-season tally.
The Pacers have now been ranked in 24 straight national polls. The Pacers were ranked inside the top-30 in the final 16 national polls of the 2012 season.
USC Aiken is one of four Peach Belt Conference teams ranked in the latest national poll. Lander is currently second, while UNC Pembroke is 15th and Montevallo is 27th.
Delta State is the No. 1 team in the latest national tally.
Winners of five straight, USC Aiken (20-5, 9-3 PBC) enters the upcoming week having now claimed six of its seven three-game series this season (Lincoln Memorial, Carson-Newman, Shepherd, Francis Marion, Flagler and Young Harris). The Pacers swept Lincoln Memorial, Shepherd, Flagler and Young Harris (10-12, 2-10 PBC).
The Pacers will open the upcoming week by welcoming Chowan to the 'Bert for a two-game midweek series on Tuesday, March 19 (4 p.m.) and Wednesday, March 20 (6 p.m.). The Pacers are 13-0 all-time against Chowan.
USC Aiken will then conclude their week with a road Peach Belt Conference three-game series with North Georgia in Dahlonega, Ga. The series will begin with a doubleheader on Saturday, March 23. The first game of the doubleheader is scheduled for 1 p.m.
The three-game league set between USC Aiken and North Georgia will then close with a single 1 p.m. contest on Sunday, March 24.
