TUCSON, Ariz. – The University of South Carolina Aiken baseball team dropped to 13th in the sixth 2013 regular-season Collegiate Baseball Newspaper NCAA Division II Poll.
USC Aiken was ranked 10th in the preseason poll released on Dec. 21, 2012. The Pacers moved up five spots to fifth in the first regular-season national tally. The Pacers remained fifth in the second regular-season poll. The Pacers were ranked sixth in the third, fourth and fifth regular-season polls.
The Pacers have now been ranked in 23 straight national polls. The Pacers were ranked inside the top-30 in the final 16 national polls of the 2012 season.
USC Aiken is one of three Peach Belt Conference teams ranked in the top-30. Lander is fifth, while UNC Pembroke is 25th.
Mount Olive is the top-ranked team in the nation.
USC Aiken opens the upcoming week with a record of 15-5 on the 2013 season. The Pacers are 6-3 in Peach Belt Conference play thus far.
USC Aiken has a busy slate at Roberto Hernandez Stadium this week. The Pacers will first welcome Limestone to its home facility for a 6 p.m. game on Wednesday, March 13. One day later, USC Aiken will welcome Anderson to the ‘Bert for a single 6 p.m. game on Thursday, March 14.
USC Aiken will then close out its week by welcoming Young Harris to the 'Bert for the first time as PBC opponents. USC Aiken and Young Harris will open their three-game league series with a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday, March 16. One day later, the series will conclude with a 1 p.m. game on Sunday, March 17.
