AIKEN, S.C. – University of South Carolina Aiken men’s basketball standout DeVontae Wright has been named the Peach Belt Conference AstroTurf Player of the Week, as announced by the league office.
Wright, a senior from Goose Creek, S.C., guided the No. 8 Pacers to a 2-0 week and the PBC regular-season crown.
He poured in a career-high 26 points in a road win at GRU Augusta, securing the regular-season title on Wednesday. In the victory, Wright connected on 16-of-19 free throws while adding four rebounds and three assists.
On Senior Night, he netted 22 points and dished out a career-high 13 assists in the victory over UNC Pembroke.
For the week, Wright hit 52 percent of his shots from the floor and buried 22 of his 25 free throws. He averaged 24 points, eight assists and four boards for the two games.
Wright and the rest of the Pacers take on Columbus State Friday night at 7 p.m., in the PBC quarterfinals. The game will take place at Columbus State, which is hosting the league tournament.
