AUGUSTA, Ga. – University of South Carolina Aiken senior women’s basketball player Daniela Tarailo has been named the Peach Belt Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.

The league office made the announcement on Monday, Feb. 4, 2013.

Tarailo (Crown Point, Ind./Crown Point HS) claims the weekly honor from the conference for the first time in her career. She is the second Pacer to win this award this season with Kayla Harris (Raleigh, N.C./Wakefield HS) winning the honor in back-to-back weeks (Dec. 10 and Dec. 18).

Tarailo closed out USC Aiken's perfect 2-0 week last week averaging a team-best 20 points per game. She also averaged 5.0 rebounds, 3.5 steals and 1.5 assists per game.

Currently in the top-3 in the nation and first in the Peach Belt Conference in field goals made per game, Tarailo shot 50 percent (8-for-16) from beyond the arc last week. She shot 51.9 percent (14-for-27) from the field in total on the week.

Tarailo put together the best game of her career in No. 6 USC Aiken's thrilling buzzer-beating win over rival No. 24 Augusta State on Saturday, Feb. 2 in Augusta, Ga. She concluded the Pacer win with a career-best 31 points to go along with eight rebounds, four steals and two assists.

Tarailo enters the upcoming week with 996 points in her four-year Pacer career. She is just four points away from having 1,000 points in her career. She would be the 10th player in the NCAA Division II history of the program to score 1,000 or more points in their career.
