NEW YORK, N.Y. – The University of South Carolina Aiken men’s golf team climbed to No. 3 in the latest Golf World/Nike Golf Coaches’ Poll, as voted on by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).

The Pacers earned a second-place finish at the Kiawah Island Invitational last week in their season-opening tournament.

Junior Brandon Robinson-Thompson recorded a second-place finish at the tournament. His performance allowed him to capture the Peach Belt Conference Golfer of the Week honor.

USC Aiken is coming off a 2012-13 campaign that saw the program ranked as high as No. 3 nationally while also winning the Peach Belt Conference Championship.

Seven student-athletes return from last year’s squad while also boasting six newcomers.

Four other conference schools are in the top 25 (Columbus State – 11th; Georgia College – 15th; Armstrong – 18th; Flagler – 22nd).

The Pacers return to action Oct. 7-8 at the Firestone Invitational in Akron, Ohio at the Firestone Country Club.
