Augusta, Ga--The Masters has done a great job of growing the game through their Drive, Chip and Putt competition. Now there's another way the PGA Tour is growing the game, Junior League Golf.
Already over 90 kids have signed up to play at Augusta Country Club where the focus is more on team style. From begininers to more experienced kids, it's a scramble format so a bad shot doesn't always hurt. Matches are only nine holes so it doesn't take all day and you'd be hard pressed to find a kid who doesn't like this format.
"It's really fun because it doesn't matter if you hit a bad shot because your teammate can hit a good one and you recover." said Mary Murray
"It's right in my ally becaus I love having teammates and playing match play and picking each others shots so we have a lot of fun." added Barrett Trotter
When they took on the program the country club figured 40 or so would be a good number. Little did they realize they'd be quickly approaching 100 kids playing golf. And hey, they also love it for the cool uniforms with numbers and all . Just another way the game continues to flourish
