AUGUSTA, Ga. – The club game between Paine College and Orangeburg has been cancelled for Saturday as the Lion program will now hold a scrimmage instead.
The Paine College club football team will be holding Family and Friends Day during a Purple and White scrimmage in place of this Saturday’s originally scheduled football game. Family and Friends Day will begin at 2 p.m. at Laney Stadium on Oct. 19.
All fans will receive free admission into the stadium. Free parking will be available on a first come, first serve basis for the lot attached to Laney Stadium. All season parking permits will be honored. During the game, concessions will be also be available for purchase.
Honorary captains Congressman John Barrow and Paine College Board of Trustees Chairman Dr. Silas Norman will kick off Family and Friends Day. The intrasquad scrimmage will allow all to get a deeper look into Paine College football this season and the depth and talent on the roster. During halftime, fans will get to witness the future of football during a recreation football scrimmage.
The football team, cheerleaders, dance team and students will gather at the corner of 15th and Laney Walker at noon on Saturday to start their Pride Walk from campus to Laney Stadium. Fans are encouraged to join the Pride Walk or cheer the team on as they arrive to the stadium. Laney High School’s Marching Band will lead the Pride Walk and provide musical entertainment throughout the day.
