Waynesboro, Ga--Six years ago Edmund Burke hired Buddy Sorrow as their new football coach. A proven winner that quickly turned the Spartan program into a state title contender. Now, Sorrow has retired and has turned the reigns over to Terence Hennessey.
Hennessey is defintely not a stranger to the program seeing he's run the offense for the past five years. Now, he just adds on the responsibilities. Lane Christian returns as quarterback and the schemes won't change much. They've loaded up on a non region slate. All hoping to make this spartan team ready when region play begins.
"Well you don't get any better in playing teams you're a lot better then" said Terence Hennessey "So we have a couple of games we have to play because they're rivalry games, and they're good football games but then we also get to play the defending state champs, Valwood and we get to play the team that won the two state championships before that, Piedmont, so we're definitely going to be battle tested by the time we get to our region schedule."
"As far as winning a state championship, it's also believing in a state championship." said Logan Christian "We've got to believe we can win each and every game and we've got to put in the work to win those games."
A lot of new faces on the offensive line will put some pressure on the skill guys early on. Edmund Burke also has a new defensive coordiantor but as coach Hennessey says the goals stay the same, which is winning a state title.
