AUGUSTA (WRDW) -- Augusta National Golf Club officially canceled the first practice round day on Monday.
“We are disappointed that our patrons could not enjoy today’s practice round," said Billy Payne, Chairman of Augusta National Golf Club and the Masters Tournament. "However, safety must be our first concern. We look forward to seeing these Patrons next year."
Patrons with Monday tickets will be sent a full refund in May, officials said. They will also be guaranteed the chance to buy tickets for the 2015 Practice Rounds.
The club shutdown the first practice round around 10 a.m. because of the threat of severe weather.
The last time gates did not open due to bad weather during a scheduled day was Monday, April 7, 2003, officials said.
