Evans, GA--Hard to believe but we're just 48 days away til pitcher and catchers head off to spring training. Which means the baseball season isn't that far off. Several local guys will be part of teams once again and two of them, along with a former teammate helping out with a clinic Thursday and Friday.
Greenbrier's Brandon Cumpton, Rich Poythress and Nolan Belcher will be linked to some of the greatest teams the Wolfpack have ever had. Today, lending their knowledge of the game to help the future generation of the sport. It really wasn't that long ago when they were in similar shoes to the kids out there today.
"Just hard work and have fun" said Brandon Cumpton "If you come out and have hard work and everything and things will work out your way. I remember going to Greenbrier camps so I don't have a problem doing it. Come out here, have fun, get to teach some of the kids and just hang out with other guys."
"I think more so then anything, especially the kids who are here in high school that are here and playing now and helping out, I don't think they realize how important this point of their life is." said Rich Poythress
While Poythress and Cumpton are headed off to their camps, Belcher will be back in Columbia and pitch for the Gamecocks. He's now two years removed from major elbow surgery and is ready to do whatever they need to get back to the College World Series.
