Augusta, Ga--Over the past eight years, a lot of players have come and gone for Augusta State. The one constant, is the face of the program and to an extent the school, head coach Dip Metress. Last night's win over Georgia College was a big one on a couple of fronts.
First and foremost in Metress's eyes, it got them back on the winning track and kept them within a game of first place in the division. A 20-0 run to start things certainly helped as the Jags never looked back. Secondly, it was career win number 200 with the program.
"You know, a great feeling to get 200 wins at Augusta State" said Dip Metress "Nine years ago coach Bryant gave me the opportunity to take a program that had a little apathy behind it. To roll out there tonight and have 1000 people there after you've lost a couple of games in a row, with a little turbulence in our program, I'm just happy to be part of the program. I'm proud of the fact we were able to get a win and remain one game out of first place, nobody wants to talk about that."
