McCormick, SC--We're just a month away now from one of the top stops on the NGA Golf Tour as the pros will be in McCormick in late April. It's the Savannah Lakes Village Classic.
Today an early way to say thank you at the Monticello golf course. Hard to believe but this is the 11th annual event which most consider as a major on the NGA Tour. From a top purse to a great field and the hospitality the residents give the players. It's a big reason why the event is one of the longest on tour.
"It shows you the longevity, it shows you the job they do here" said Ryan Waters "The course, the quality course and you lose some events over the years from that but as we said you look at the players on the PGA Tour now that have come off this golf course, the first couple of events, Vaughn Taylor and Scott Piercy, both PGA tour champions"
One big change the golfers will find is new greens at Monticello. No longer are they bent grass greens as they've gone to bermuda. May 2nd is the first round of play.
