Augusta, Ga--Georgia Southern's football team, and athletic department as a whole is in a unique situation this year. A major upgrade as the Eagles are moving up from the FCS in football to the big time FBS.

Today, Eagle athletic director Tom Kleinlein paid a visit to Augsuta as the area has a strong fan base for all things Georgia Southern. The most noteable improvement comes to Paulson Stadium. They're adding 6000 seats and a 50,000 square foot football operations center. It's a privately funded project that's growing the legecy of the Eagle program.

"When we decided to expand the stadium and build upon Erk's (Russell) dream and what Erk started back in 1981, our fan base, our former players and our community that has supported us has really jumped on board with the idea of growing Paulson Stadium into something that's really a centerpiece of what we're trying to do with our athletic program"

They are expecting the upper deck to Paulson Stadium to be completed before graduation in the spring. The Eagles are also moving to the Sun Belt Conference as they look to enhance the overall product with Georgia Southern.
