You see him around at every one else's youth football camps helping show the next generation how the game is played, but Saturday came the long awaited Corvey Irvin Football Camp.
The former Laney star and now Chicago Bears defensive lineman joined up with a bunch of his closest NFL friends to teach and inspire the kids of Augusta on the football field.
These guys have been through the ringer, both on the field and in the classroom, so for them the most important thing is just to prepare the young ones with some tips to help them succeed as well.
"It's a great feeling always to first and foremost give back to the kids," Irvin said. "I was once a kid myself, and a lot of coaches and a lot of people in the community helped me out. They paved the way for me to be in the position I'm in now."
Lincoln County and San Diego Chargers defensive end Jarius Wynn was there to help. He said, "Just us coming back and giving back and trying to show them that everything's possible. If they trust in God and work hard, everything will pay off."
More than 100 kids age 10-17 came out for the free camp.
Keep your eye out if you want more. Wynn and Thomson's Jasper Brinkley both host camps later this month.
