Martinez, Ga--It's not a glamor spring sport but there's a pretty good talent pool in the world of track and field in the area. This year is no different. Over at Lakeside, usually it's the distance events we're talking about. Not this time with a sprinter that's leaving her mark.
Ashlan Rosier has blossomed into one of the top sprinters in the area. This past weekend, rosier, along with a handful of other area athletes were in New York City for the New Balance Track and Field Championships. While she didn't perform up to her standards in the big apple, it may have served motivation for the outdoor season.
"It' just showed me I need to work more and work harder at practice to get better" said Ashlan Rosier "My coach also helps us with practice, during practice he takes pictures of us and everything."
"That wasn't good enough for her" said coach Derek Myers "She wanted to be on the podium and so I love that because I know that's going to drive her further for this season and next season."
This weekend Rosier and the Panthers are competiting in Georgia Tech where her coach full expects her to set a school record in the 100 and 200. Her ultimate goal, follow in the footsteps of Reese Hoffa and be an Olympian. Rosier does run with an AAU team year 'round and should only get better seeing she's just a junior.
