Lady Pacers fall to #4 despite remaining undefeated

LILBURN, Ga. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women's basketball team dropped one spot to fourth in the sixth 2012-13 regular-season USA Today/ESPN Division II top-25 Coaches' Poll.

Peach Belt Conference rival Clayton State jumped ahead of the Pacers to third in the latest poll. Ashland is still the nation's No. 1 team. Bentley is second.

The Pacers had been ranked fifth in the preseason and first regular-season poll. In the second regular-season poll, USC Aiken moved up to fourth before claiming the ranking of third in the third regular-season poll. The Pacers had been ranked a program-best third in the fourth and fifth regular-season polls.

Since being ranked for the first time in the 2010-11 season on Dec. 14, 2010, USC Aiken has now been ranked in the top-25 in the last 34 polls (school-record). The Pacers have been ranked in the top-10 in each of the last three years.

One of only nine remaining unbeaten teams in NCAA Division II, USC Aiken next welcomes Montevallo to the Convocation Center on Saturday, Jan. 12. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

The nationally fourth-ranked Pacers welcome Montevallo to the Convocation Center owning a perfect 11-0 record in the 2012-13 season. The Pacers are presently 4-0 in Peach Belt Conference action. USC Aiken currently has a two-game lead in the Peach Belt Conference East Division.

In the midst of the best start in program history, USC Aiken at 11-0 currently is just one win away from tying the 2011-12 Pacer squad for the longest winning streak in program history. The 2011-12 Pacers won 12 straight games from Nov. 12, 2011-Jan. 16, 2012.
